Creating groups

You can create a new group in both Sybase Central and Interactive SQL. You need DBA authority to create a new group.

To create a new group (Sybase Central)

1. Click the Users & Groups folder.

2. From the File menu, choose New > Group.

   The Create Group wizard appears.

3. Follow the instructions in the wizard.

To create a new group (SQL)

• Execute a GRANT GROUP TO statement. If the user ID you specify in this statement has not already been created, the statement fails.

Example

Create the user ID personnel.

GRANT CONNECT
TO personnel
IDENTIFIED BY group_password;

Make the user ID personnel a group.

GRANT GROUP TO personnel;
